food, drink, play things always go down well services: a visit from a poet, a house clean, teaching people how to... goodies from the band, the venue, the charity what’s local: cinema, theatre, national park? raffle prize ideas could local sports venues offer 1-2-1 training eg tennis as a prize; football clubs may donate gear – or even send along a player anything original – artwork, jewellery, signed books  pics, CDs, trip backstage at a theatre or concert, tour of local radio or TV station would your local MP agree to be a slave for the day? activities can a local DJ or radio presenter MC for you for the night? could a local auction house provide an auctioneer? The guys in Scotland are holding a human auction – could you adapt for your event? Easter egg hunt – get 50 squares on a piece of paper – charge £1 a square, with an Easter egg as the winning prize for the square that gets chosen Challenge on the night – eg if we raise £50 extra the organising committee will do a rendition of ...; x will shave have their head shaved/hairy chest waxed; the band will play x (works well if you ask a heavy rock band to play a Cliff Richard song, or vice versa) And Edinburgh’s fishing ducks for prizes 8 Prepared by Claire Thompson, Waves PR, for Twestival fundraisers, March 2010, with thanks to teams for sharing their learning (claire@wavespr.com; t: +44(0) 118 944 0394)
Games Charge to enter/play: Dry biscuit race – water biscuits, who can eat the most in a minute (make a song & dance about the rules, & have water available!) Popcorn race – one person lies on floor while partner has to hoover popcorn that’s been spread over them, with prize for winning team Balloon popping – people have to sit on a balloon on a chair and the first one to pop their balloon by bumping up & down on them. For a real challenge, ill the balloon with helium & allow sponsorship of them! Work with the bar/venue Would they let you sell food ? Chocolate fountain cookies/cupcakes? If not, could they do two special Twestival dishes where set amount of price goes back to Twestival Could your venue create a drink just for you? What might people pay for on the night? Ask providers of services to donate time in exchange for the publicity/relationships: Craft table; make an Easter bonnet? Head massage Tarot or palm reading For the girls: makeover or nail bar Careful who you ask to do this one: a hug stall, or kiss stall Swearbox or ‘dirty word’ box eg anyone who mentions work gets fines. Get people to donate Provide a bucket for collections: Have it by the door as people arrive & leave for change donations Can someone speak about Concern whilst the bucket goes round?
