With partner, developed plan, obtained financing and implemented a small business engaged in the
publication and distribution of a rural/regional “shopper“ newspaper including sales of advertising space.
Compaq/Hewlett Packard - Director 1994 to 2003
Responsible for the disposition of all excess technology for North America, I was responsible for maximizing
revenue, optimized inventory, operating expense management and the team’s development. Had full Profit
and Loss responsibilities and managed a $15M budget. Also included the Compaq/HP Factory
Outlet.
I was recruited to create and manage this organization from ground up and went on to sell over $2.5
billion worth of technology products and services. Averaged approximately $ 275M per year.
Managed a multi-functional team of over 150 employees. Functions included Sales Management:
(Retail, Telesales, e-commerce, In-Direct Sales), Operations Management including Customer
Service, Marketing – Strategy -Planning, Financial Management and Project
Management.
Customers ranged from consumers, businesses, government and resellers/distributors.
Managed all post-sale support operations: call center, repair depot, retail walk-in support and training
department.
Opened the company’s first and only North American retail superstore, The Compaq
Factory Outlet which averaged $115-130M annually.
Dell Computer Corporation 1991 to 1994
Recruited to develop, implement and manage “excess products” disposition strategy which included
similar operations as described above. Included Dell’s first and only Retail Superstore called the Dell
Factory Outlet. This strategy broke industry ground regarding the management of excess/used
technology products in the US. This resulted in my recruitment by Compaq Computer Corporation.

Open their 64

store in Tulsa, OK as GM, took it to top ten store in 6mos and promoted to run their
Flagship Store in Austin, TX.

Hired as a Computer Sales Associate in Radio Shack Computer Center. Within 2 years was promoted
to GM to their Business Product Center which besides computers included the sales of business phone
systems and the industry’s earliest cell phones.
