2. Sharrows added along Main St from 10th to 15th St.
• Sharrows encourage safe passing of bicyclists by
motorists.
• Reduces incidents of “Dooring” by encouraging bicyclists
to use the middle of the lane when parallel parking exists
in both directions of two-way travel on narrow streets.
• Assists bicyclists with lateral positioning in lanes that are
too narrow for a motor vehicle and a bicycle to travel
side by side within the same travel lane.
• Reduce incidences of wrong-way bicycling
6. Molalla Avenue
Travelling South Between Beverly Dr and Beavercreek Rd
• Bicyclists traveling south on Molalla Ave. from Beverly
Dr. face the sudden ending of their bike lane and forced
to travel in either the through or right turn travel lanes
approaching the intersection at Warner-Milne Rd. and
Molalla Ave.
• After continuing on through the intersection the lane
widths become narrower in front of Hilltop Mall to just
before the intersection at Molalla Ave. and
Beavercreek Rd.
• Share-the-Road mentality between bicyclists and
motor vehicle operators is encouraged in this corridor.
7. Signage added to warn drivers and cyclists of abrupt ending to bicycle lane.
9. Motorists are encouraged to be aware of bicyclists in the narrower lanes as traffic
moves through the intersection at Molalla and Warner-Milne.
10. Molalla Avenue
Traveling North from Beavercreek Rd. towards Beverly Dr.
• Bicyclists traveling along Molalla Ave. heading north reach a
point in front of the entrance to Hilltop Mall where their bike
lane ends.
• Approaching the intersection at Molalla Ave. and Warner-
Milne Rd., fog line striping provides refuge for the cyclist to
wait at the intersection.
• Proceeding through the intersection the bicyclist and motorist
face a quick traffic merge with continuing north bound traffic
(“pinch point”).
• Share-the-Road mentality is promoted here also where traffic
lanes are narrow (no bike lane) and traffic merging occurs.
11. Warning to bicyclists and motorists that the bike lane will be ending upon passing through
the intersection.
12. Signage added to promote awareness now that the bike lane has ended upon
passing through the lighted intersection for the entrance to Hilltop Mall.
13. Small section of fog line added to the approach at the intersection of Molalla Ave and
Warner-Milne Rd. Lane width between the entrance Intersection to Hilltop Mall up to
Hilltop Ave is narrow but right at this intersection it is approximately 14 ft wide so the fog
line is effective in providing some refuge.
14. Share-the-Road signage placed to encourage awareness of bicyclists in the roadway
while motorists are attempting their merge movements.
