1. HA4 – Objects of desire evaluation
For the objects of desire unit I chose to do a food advertisement as most food adverts are
simple yet effective and when you see food on TV it makes you want to eat that food. This
will make anyone who watches the advert want to go out and buy the product. I picked a
classmate to play in the role of a consumer from the target audience I was trying to appeal
to. I chose to do a food from the college that I currently go to and it was a chicken burger.
The music that I chose for the advert was a percussion piece that was quite up tempo, I
thought that this would appeal to the audience also. After I shot the video I went into Adobe
Premiere Pro and added some effects such as the cross dissolve. I used this as a better way
to manipulate time and cross scenes so that it ran smoothly. I started off with a close up of
the food and brand that made it, this was on the box, I took the chicken burger out of the
box so that you could get a much more clear view of the food as well as recognising who
made the food. The weakness of this advert is that it wasn’t clear on what was being
advertised. You can see that its food but couldn’t directly tell it was a chicken burger. What I
could of done here is maybe a closer shot of the burger and its contents. This would have
made the product more recognisable. The scenes were also a little too long. I could have put
some more effects onto the video as well. I know because I asked a few people from
another class to watch my advertisement and give me some feedback. For me the strengths
of this advertisement were the shot framing. I did use a tripod for the close up of the burger
and then hand held recorded the rest, even though a tripod would have been effective for
the other shots as well but I think I would of got a much rough shot. I think the point of the
advertisement was put across well, it wasn’t too hard to follow and you can relate to it
because it makes you want a burger.
