1. Lesson Plan in Literature for Fourth Year Students
I. Objectives
Students must be able to do the following at the end of the activities with at least 75% proficiency.
a) Identify the types of drama and point out what type of drama is the text.
b) Write a dialogue.
c) Discriminate between positive and negative values.
d) Indicate commitment to values pertaining to humanity.
II. Subject Matter
“The Boor” by Anton Chekhov

Materials: Copy of the pre-assigned text, picture and rubric sheet.
III. Procedure
Day 1:
A. Motivation:
1. What do you think is the mood in the picture you see?
2. Do you believe in love at first sight?
3. Tell the students that the picture is from the Drama/ Stage Play called “The Boor”.
B. Presentation:
1. Tell the students that they will now learn more about the types of drama.
2. Discuss the types of Drama.

2. Activity 1:
1. Identify what type of drama is “The Boor”
2. Ask the students if they understood the text and then give them the following questions to
answer:
a. Do you think that Mr. Smirnov and Helena fell in love at first sight? Why? Why not?
b. Who do you think is more faithful? Man or Woman? Why?
c. If you could talk to Mrs. Popov what would you tell her?
d. Describe the positive traits you find in the text. Cite evidences by reading
the line.
e. Describe the negative traits you find in the text. Cite evidences by reading
the line.

A. Review
1. Review the students about what they learned about drama
B. Activity 1:
1. Ask the students to recall the story of “The Boor”
2. Let them describe the main characters.
C. Evaluation:
1. Give them instructions to write a short dialogue on how they want the story to end. (alternate ending)
2. Let the students justify their ending.
3. Give them a rubric to follow standards.
