2. Definition of Recount Text
Based on its purpose, a recount text
is one of the English writing genres
which is to retell for the readers
regarding a series of past personal
experiences of the writer.
On the other hand, recount is a
factual story in which the writer
involved her/himself on a series of
events in the past.
3. Generic Structure
I. Orientation: introducing the
participants, using first personal
point of view.
II. Events: describing a serial of events
which impressively happened.
III. Re-orientation: stating the writer's
personal note or sometimes
reminding others on such event.
4. Language Feature
1. Using first person personal pronouns I, we

5. Enjoying The Exotic of Komodo Island
In my last summer holiday I and my family
went to Komodo. It was an exotic island lied in
western part of West Manggarai, East Nusa
Tenggara (NTT). There were many places that
we could enjoy ourselves there. We could also
go to many places to see the beauty of the sea
garden around the island. There were also a
special garden for a rare animal which is like a
giant lizaard which local people called as Puteri
Naga Komodo, of course they refered to
varanus commodoensis, a very rare animal in
the world and currently has been pointed as a
new seven wonders. If we wanted to see as
many places as possible we could join the tours
arranged by the travell agent. We stayed in
Bintang Flores Hotel in Labuan Bajo on arrival.
Closed to the hotel there was a beautiful beach
where we could enjoy swiming and surving.

swimming and surfing on Pede beach.
We met many foregin tourists there.
They were very friendly. We practiced
our English a lot. We also visited some
tour agents and selected two tours. The
first one was to Bidadari island, the
second was to Komodo Island.
On the first day of the tour, we got
ready and left the hotel early in the
morning. We sailed on through the pure
sea water to Bidadari island. It was a
small island where many kinds of exotic
birds and bets living. We enjoyed walking
around the coast of the island. Then we
took small vessel to move through the
narrow water while enjoying the beauty of
the seaweed and small colourful wish
dancing around our eyes. Then we

7. The second tour to Komodo was a very
different tour. It was a lovely day on our 3 hours
journey on a yacht. It was also a special moment
to enjoy the exotic of small islands where the
blue carpet of the sea gave us a relaxing time.
During the tour we were allowed by the local
authority to do fishing. There were tools prepared
for tourist who love fishing. I tried one for my self.
What a big surprised for me that just not long
than 3 minutes I got a lovely yellow tail fish. I
never got such moment on fishing in my life in
Jakarta. It was so impressing moment for us that
I got 5 big fish for my self.
We were so happy that our ten-day-stay there
seemed to end very quickly. Besides our two
tours, we spent all our days on the beach to
enjoy swimming, surfing and playing along the

people were very friendly with us. They told us the history of the
animal and how they live together in such small island.

islands and the beauty of the nature gave us a
unforgetable memory. We were quite satisfied. I believe
one day next, i’ll be return there even for a long journey
and I’ll try to invite more of my family and relatives to
spend holiday there.
