3. History
1088 - first veterinary school
was opened in Lviv, mainly
concentrated on horse healing
and maintenance. As Lviv was
part of the Europe it brought
great opportunity for all
countries to extend living and
well being of the animals what
influenced international trade.
6 years was minimum duration
of the course and a lot of
famous and qualified doctors
graduated from the school
4. in the period between 1881-1918, 420 doctors were spread among
Europe. The made a hue change in veterinary, increased number
of long living and healthy animals and decreased sickness and
loss of horses, cows and other animals
Lviv medical academy went through changes an d revolutions,
war and peace, got a lot of recognition and importance.
1992 - got title of Lviv Veterinary Medicine Academy
2003 - status of National University and was named after its
famous graduate and professor, doctor of science, Stepan
Gzhiskiy National University
Since 1885 - 2008 issued 30`000 diplomas, 16`200 of them
Veterinary Doctors, 10`360 Vet-engineers and many others
8. How To Apply
1. Application addressed to the Rector of the University (hand written &
autographically);
2. Application of the established form (filled in Ukrainian, Russian or English language);
3. Invitation for study from the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sport of
Ukraine, (issued by LNUVM);
4. Document about the previous education and the appendix, containing the information
on the academic performance (original and notarised copy of every document);
5. Valid foreign passport with entrance visa for study in Ukraine (original and copy of
passport information page, copy of page with Ukrainian visa);
6. Birth certificate (original and notarised copy);
9. 7. Medical certificate about the state of health, authenticated by
the official health care authority of the country the foreigner
came from and issued not earlier than 2 months before leaving
for study in Ukraine;
8. Document of the absence of HIV infection, issued not earlier
than 2 months before leaving for study in Ukraine;
9. Medical insurance;
10. 10 photos in size 45-35mm;
11. Digital photo on CD;
12. Open dated return ticket with one year term;
