Game of Drones: Using IoT, Machine Learning, Drones, and Networking to Solve World Hunger Drones are increasingly used in various commercial and consumer scenarios – from agriculture drones (providing farmers with crop and irrigation patterns) to consumer drones (that follow you around as you engage in action sports), to drone racing. Drones are outfitted with a large number of sensors (cameras, accelerometers, gyros, etc.), and can continuously stream these signals in real time for analysis. This talk introduces the landscape of the various drone technologies that are currently available, and shows you how to acquire and analyze the real-time signals from the drones to design intelligent applications in an IoT pipeline. We will demonstrate how to leverage machine learning models that perform real-time facial detection along with predictions of age, gender, emotion, and object recognition using the signals acquired from the drones. You will walk away understanding the basics of how to develop applications that utilize and visualize these real-time insights. This talk includes fun with drones, how to tackle the problem of world hunger, and some Game of Thrones silliness. It is targeted at data scientists, students, researchers, and IT professionals who have an interest in building intelligent applications using drones and machine learning. It will be a fun and exciting exploration as we demonstrate a drone with the power of recognizing faces, ages, genders, emotions, and objects. You will learn how to leverage these same machine learning models to imbue intelligence into drones or other applications.

Passive remote sensing is a class of Remote Sensing that make use of Passive Remote Sensors. The sensors are used to detect natural radiations that are emitted by the object or by its surrounding areas. The most common source of energy that is measured by Passive Remote Sensors is “Reflected Sunlight”.

One of the most impressive mountain areas in the Alps are the Dolomites. Tourists visit the Dolomites for outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, climbing, cycling and many others. However, unexpected events, such as weather conditions, poor experience in mountains, underestimation of the terrain conditions, bad planning, weak technical skills, among others, can increase the risk of accidents. The activities that represent better these events are ski touring, rock/ice climbing, mountaineering and hiking. In this work, we propose a localization system based on LoRa (pycom) and Bluetooth (beacon) devices to find lost people inside of the natural park Bletterbach GEOPARC. The system consists on a wearable sensor device worn in a helmet that transmits actual position to fixed stations. In case of emergency, the stations provide the last checking point to a centralized system, and authorities can start a procedure to find the victim with the aid of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The UAV transmits the exact coordinate to mountain rescue teams, and terrain conditions (imagery) to effectively plan the rescue mission. This work aims to accelerate the process of search and rescue operations that could be extended to different scenarios.

Nowadays it is widely accepted that remote sensing is an efficient way of large data management philosophy. In this paper, we present a future view of the big data collection by synthetic aperture radiometry as a passive microwave remote sensing towards building a global monitoring system. Since the collected data may not have any value, it is mandatory to analyses these data in order to get valuable and beneficial information with respect to their base data. The collected data by synthetic aperture radiometry is one of the high resolution earth observation, these data will be an intensive problems, Meanwhile, Synthetic Aperture Radar able to work in several bands, X, C, S, L and P-band. The important role of synthetic aperture radiometry is how to collect data from areas with inadequate network infrastructures where the ground network facilities were destroyed. The future concern is to establish a new global data management system, which is supported by the groups of international teams working to develop technology based on international regulations. There is no doubt that the existing techniques are so limited to solve big data problems totally. There is a lot of work towards improving 2- D and 3-D SAR to get better resolution.

Learn about the new laser offset mapping workflow within Esri Collector for ArcGIS. Understanding how the rapid advances in GIS technology have created an opportunity for you to do more with less. By integrating lasers with smart devices, mobile mapping apps and GPS/GNSS devices that you might already own, you can maximize productivity with an immediate ROI. The variety of measurement functions laser rangefinders can provide will allow you to complete field tasks quicker and safer.

In the last decade, the use of wireless electronic communication technology, such as mobile phones, is fundamental to the private and professional lives of most citizens. In fact, it has become an inseparable part of their daily lives. Nowadays, most cell phones are provided with different implanted sensors, which measure motion, orientation, and environmental conditions such as ambient light or temperature. Therefore, several functionalities in mobile applications need to use these sensors, as in the case of logistics applications, social network applications or travel information applications. Hence, the primary contribution of this work is to establish a generic meta-model, in order to show the different embedded sensors in the smartphones, and then generate mobile applications that use various features offered by these sensors for the case of Android OS. So as to achieve this, our approach is based on a model driven architecture (MDA) suggested by Object Management Group (OMG), which is a variant of Model-Driven Engineering (MDE). The MDA approach can contribute in the insurance of the sustainability of expertise, as well as the improvement of the gain in productivity while dealing with the challenges of mobile platform fragmentation.

Abstract: The paper aims at designing a system for border surveillance using the concept of smartdust technology. Smartdusts are small dust like wireless sensor motes with multiple on-board sensors and microcontroller. In real time, thousands of such smartdust motes must be deployed in a large area. The motes can form a network among them and has wireless connection to outside world. Onboard hardware include a variety of sensors for vibration/seismic, magnetic, acoustic and thermal signature recognition, a microcontroller for processing these sensor values and a radio transceiver for communication over a wireless network. In this experimental project, we have designed one central monitoring mote and two smartdust motes using ARM controller, IEEE radio transceiver and sensors. The central monitoring mote also displays the tracking history of intrusion on enabling a switch. Keywords:Advanced RISC Machine (ARM), Cortex microcontroller software interface standard (CMSIS), Inter Integrated Circuit (I2C), MEMS accelerometer, Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI),Smartdust mote.

We present an architecture of embedding models, vector databases, LLMs, and narrow ML for tracking global news narratives across a variety of countries/languages/news sources. As an example, we explore the real-time application of this architecture for tracking the news narrative surrounding the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny coming from Russian, French, and English sources.

Terragrunt, Terraspace, Terramate, terra... whatever. What is wrong with Terraform so people keep on creating wrappers and solutions around it? How OpenTofu will affect this dynamic? In this presentation, we will look into the fundamental driving forces behind a zoo of wrappers. Moreover, we are going to put together a wrapper ourselves so you can make an educated decision if you need one.

Effective data discovery is crucial for maintaining compliance and mitigating risks in today's rapidly evolving privacy landscape. However, traditional manual approaches often struggle to keep pace with the growing volume and complexity of data.
