What is Keyphrase Research? Keyword Research is one of the starting points for any type of SEO. For an internet marketing campaign to be effective it is essential that the company is aware of which keyphrases they need to target. In order to identify these necessary keyphrases, a wide range of research must take place and be analysed. Step 1: Brainstorm Relevant Words Ask yourself, ‘How would a potential customer want to find me?’ Using your own experience and knowledge of your company compile an industry specific list of keyphrases you believe your target market may use to find the services or products you offer. Step 2: Real Life Competitors Think about who your real life competitors are and check their websites; are they gaining high places in Google? What are their Keyphrases? By looking at the keyphrases they are using, usually found in the page title, you should be able to gain a grasp of what may work for your company. This is particularly effective if you are very close competitors. Step 4: Use a Keyword Tool This involves putting the list of keyphrases you have compiled into a keyword tool such as Google Keyword Tool  which is an easily accessible online tool. The tool will analyse the list you have submitted and create a useful table detailing traffic levels for each keyterm, as well as list other related keyterms.
