Flightfest 2011
Saturday, August 6
The Nelson Pilots Association will be hosting the annual Nelson BC Flightfest and Airport Appreciation Day on Saturday August 6,
2011. This aviation event attracts both locals and folks flying in from across BC, Alberta, the US and beyond. Nelson’s Municipal
Airport will be buzzing with activity for young and old as well as pilots and non pilots.
Featured will be several renowned Canadian airshow performers such as Bill Carter, John Mrazek, Paul Hajduk. Also making an
appearance will be the Canadian Military with two aircraft doing flying displays as well as on static display all day Saturday.
Support general aviation and the airports that serve us so well by planning to be part of this grass roots aviation tradition. For

The Kootenay Express Update Non-Scientific Survey Question
This week’s survey is about composting
Results of the survey will be used by Earth Matters Compost Education Project to better understand Nelson and
area residents’ composting habits. The Earth Matters Compost Education Project is designed to promote the value
and importance of backyard/indoor composting as a way to significantly reduce the amount of organic waste reaching
overfull landfill sites. In order to have the most beneficial programming possible, Earth Matters needs the commu-
nity’s input, which will be used to guide composting education programming decisions. Thank you for participating
in our survey!
http://surveymonkey.com/s/RDNLM7N
Earth Matters has plenty of compost education materials and upcoming workshops around the community. To find
out more or become a volunteer, drop by the Earth Matters ECO Centre at 563 Ward St., call the compost hotline at
250 352 2513, or find our booth at the Wednesday and Saturday Markets.
