4. A view and a vision: the heart of a head
Social and civic competences;
Cultural awareness.
Governance of schools and, with it, leadership usually
display varying tensions as those between “diversity of
provision and social equity”, “competition and
collaboration”.

5. A view and a vision: the heart of a head
Schools are the keystone not only for formal but also to encourage and
provide broader learning tools for informal learning.
“adaptive expertise” or “adaptive competence”
Critical thinking, flexible problem-solving, and the transfer
of skills and use of knowledge acquired in one situation to
address problems arising in new situations.
Ability to cooperate is a valuable outcome in its own right and needs to
be fostered, quite apart from its impact on measured achievement
outcomes.

?
Teresa Lacerda (teresalacerda@hotmail.com)
11. Main idea…
These partnerships bring
an
international dimension to
young people's learning, improve
their knowledge and understanding of other
cultures and prepare them for life and work
as global citizens.

13. First golden rule…
Involving the team…
• Establish different levels of coordination.
• Present the project to the teachers and
explain its purpose.
• Give each school the flexibility to organize
their teams and subjects
• Create a strong team spirit - Fostering ties
between partners
It’s easier to get people involved when
we are transparent…

16. Fourth golden rule…
Curriculum work
• Integrate the subject of the project in the
curriculum.
• Promote the collaborative and
multidisciplinary work.
• Balance between knowledge and action.
…And… with these it is possible to:
• Promote a citizenship awareness on a global
