6. The TECOSIM strategy
Vision
TECOSIM is the world‘s leading company for
computer-aided engineering (CAE).
Strategy
◾ Innovation leadership in calculation and simulation
◾ Expansion into new business fields
◾ Geographical expansion
◾ Strengthening of the TECOSIM brand
◾ Increase efficiency with optimised processes
and methods
8. Service portfolio
Structure simulation
Structure simulation includes the following sub-fields
at TECOSIM:
◾ Crash simulation
◾ Stiffness analysis
◾ Durability analysis
◾ Fatigue analysis
◾ Vibration and NVH analysis
(noise, vibration, harshness)
◾ Optimisation
Structure simulations help to enhance the performance
of components and products, reduce weight or cut
production costs.
9. Service portfolio
Computational fluid dynamics
◾ One-dimensional fluid dynamics calculations
◾ Multi-dimensional fluid dynamics calculations
◾ Thermal calculations
Although we may not perceive them, flows are present in all
areas of life. A large number of machines and processes only
function on the basis of flows, which may involve air, flowing
gases, water or other liquids. Based on numerical methods
and algorithms, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) make it
possible to calculate the complex processes related to flows
and represent them in models. They can be used to provide a
precise measurement of speeds, pressures, density spreads,
concentration distribution and temperature distribution.
10. Service portfolio
Multi-body system simulation
Virtually all branches of industry make use of complex me-
chanical systems, most of which contain a number of moving
parts. TECOSIM engineers use multi-body system simulation
to ensure that individual components interact with one another
in an optimum way right from the development stage.
TECOSIM has specialised in the following application fields:
◾ Calculation for powertrain components and modules
◾ Calculation for chassis components
◾ Vehicle components, such as hoods on convertibles
◾ Occupant safety
◾ Kinematic simulations (movement simulation)
11. Service portfolio
System simulation
System simulation is used to examine highly complex overall
systems in which many sub-systems interact. Mapping
and simulating such a system is a supreme discipline: the
physical properties of all components and sub-systems in-
terconnected with each other and exerting influence on one
another must be described in a mathematically correct way
and their behaviour evaluated. TECOSIM has specialised in
1D simulation for the automotive industry.
12. Product portfolio
TEC|BENCH
Patented by TECOSIM, TEC|BENCH is a process solution which
provides virtual comparison with competitors‘ products. We
use hardware data to produce CAE models in several stages,
forwarding valuable virtual information acquired from these
models directly into the engineers‘ development environment.
Other advantages at a glance:
◾ Better understanding of rival products
◾ Savings on time and costs
◾ Needs-based and results-oriented analyses for
specific tasks
◾ Unites the key fields of engineering expertise:
testing, benchmarking, scanning, reverse engineering
and simulation
13. Product portfolio
TEC|CONCEPT
Reducing production costs or weight often poses a major
challenge for vehicle developers as a result of complex vehicle
structures. This is due to factors such as conflicting require-
ments or the wide variety of materials available on the market
today. TECOSIM has developed the fast concept development
method (TEC|CONCEPT) in cooperation with partners to deal
with such issues. This process is able to leverage improvement
potential thanks to computer-assisted optimisation. Solutions
produced are presented in a native CAD format (Catia), which
allows a cross-disciplinary approach to discussing the results.
TEC|WRX
TEC|WRX is a software application based on Altair‘s HyperMesh.
The ‚toolbox‘ makes a CAE engineer‘s working day significantly
easier when generating models. Depending on the task, they can
save anything from a few minutes to several hours‘ work.
