1. A vehicle for positive
community involvement
through soccer for the
residents of the South
Lake Tahoe area.
Why does South Lake Tahoe need a Soccer Association?
Our community tableau is undergoing radical change today, with the influx of an increasing number of
culturally distinct peoples and a population that ebbs and flows with the tourist economy. Combining and
associating all levels of the sport into one, 501c3 non-profit organization, will have a hugely positive impact
in this community…Everyone will benefit…the 4 year old who learns to play soccer for the first time,
adult seasonal residents who have another reason to stay, work and play in town, the Latino Community
has a natural, safe and healthy place to plug-in, local businesses will realize more profit around Association
events/tournaments and young players will have an opportunity to play in a competitive Club that can pre-
pare them athletically and garner the recognition necessary to win scholarships to attend college. Through
a vibrant, accepting soccer organization, the gap between established members of the community and
people new to it, who face natural barriers of culture and language, can and will be bridged. The soccer
field can be an important social sanctuary when supported by the right organization.

2. BUILDING OUR COMMUNITY CONNECTION
BENEFIT FOR KIDS:
EVERY CHILD GETS TO PLAY
Kids can learn about the sport,
participate at a level that is appropriate
for them throughout the year.
Programs and leagues will provide a
rewarding athletic experience in which
sportsmanship and teamwork are valued
components. Team sports teach many
important lessons.
Each level of the game is offered from
first-ever experiences to highly
competitive environments that will
challenge college bound players
Players will have the support and resourc-
es (both human and financial) available of
an entire organization as they grow in the
sport and especially when they graduate
high school and want to attend college.

3. BUILDING OUR COMMUNITY CONNECTION
BENEFIT FOR PARENTS:
Because every child gets to play, parents can provide a
positive experience with soccer to their child regardless of
their financial capability
Professionals are responsible for the development of
players, coaches and officials to optimize the soccer experi-
ence for each child (read less work for parents)
Parents can be trained and volunteer as coaches at the
recreational levels, which creates a more enjoyable experi-
ence for them and helps make them more effective with
their teams
Parents can be trained and hired as officials for youth and
adult leagues, creating part-time jobs for many struggling
families
Parents can participate in Association events, or sit on the
Board (or on a committee) that helps shape they way the
organization serves the community
Team sports help teach kids very important lessons about
responsibility, getting along with others, and self-discipline
which can reinforce those values taught at home.

programs and leagues, accountability is
built-in to the structure at all levels which will
result in a operational consistency and meet
the mission and goals of the
organization
Use of U.S. Soccer Federation guidelines
for each age group will create a consistent,
research based, and proven experience for
children as they grow in the sport
