Women in management
Brief history ,[object Object]
Women were considered just as means to glorify men.
They were meant to be married off as soon as they     attain maturity ,[object Object],    husbands and eventually take care of the children ,[object Object]
They were not allowed to work or do job to earn     livelihood
Disturbing facts ,[object Object]
Men in the Arab states have 3.5 times the purchasing    power of their female counterparts. ,[object Object],    $1 per day-- are women. ,[object Object],   workforce and in the Netherlands 20% of the workforce are     female administrators and managers.  ,[object Object],   Bahamas, 33% of the workforce is comprised of women     administrators and managers.
Disturbing facts ,[object Object],33% in the developed world l5% in Africa 13% in Asia                     In Africa and Asia these percentages reflect a                     doubling of numbers in the last twenty years. ,[object Object],   by a man, only one share is owned by a woman.
What about India ,[object Object],		1992           14.4% 		1996            15.8% 		2000            17.6%  ,[object Object],       of this: 	14% in Junior Management 	4%   in Middle Management 	4%   in Senior Management ,[object Object],   workforce. What about India ,[object Object],   20-25% women while BPOs employ over 50% ,[object Object]
Women today comprise only 2% of the total managerial    strength in the Indian corporate sector. ,[object Object],   women have dared to venture out in India
But things are changing now… ,[object Object]
Women have even taken up tasks which were strictly for men    e.g. pilots, real estates, manufacturing, top level management ,[object Object],   management as a career is declining. A large number of     women are pursuing management education (e.g. HR ) ,[object Object]
Women in senior management	Philippines 97% 	Brazil 85% 	China 91%
But things are changing now… ,[object Object],   management ,[object Object],   2010 which is 10 more than what the situation was 4 years     ago(5 women CEO’s in F500 in 2006 ) Source: Rediff Business website               www.rediff.com/money
