2. "UN PUEBLO CONCIENTE DE SUS RAĂCES,
DEFIENDE SU IDENTIDAD DE CULTURA"
âą "A village conscious of their roots, defend their cultural
identity"
âą The Chorotega population identify and proudly display
the fact that they were natives and the first in Costa
Rica.
âą The people in MatambĂș accept their origin from Mexico
but consider themselves more Costa Rican.
3. THE LEGEND OF THE
"YEGUA" OF THE VIRGIN
OF GUADALUPE
âą The legend states that two men were fighting to the
death over a women that they both loved and in the
middle of the fight a horse jumped between them,
stopping the fight, and vanished.
4. RELIGION & BELIEFS
âą The people in MatambĂș believe that the body is made of
corn, which is why they think that one must break the
tortilla with their hands instead of cutting it.
âą Cross-culture examples:
âą The tortilla, since they think the body is made of corn, is
like the holy bread from the catholic religion
âą In the legend of the "yegua" of the Virgin of Guadalupe
is an example of cross-culture since horses were
discovered with the arrival of the Spanish, which tells us
that the Spanish invasion has influenced the philosophy
5. "MEN AT SOME TIME ARE MASTERS OF
THEIR FATES. THE FAULT, DEAR
BRUTUS, IS NOT IN OUR STARS. BUT IN
OURSELVES"
âą The inhabitants of MatambĂș are not powerless to their fates
because every human has a chance to surpass their
barriers, but theirs are just harder since there are racists in
this world that may complicate things just because they are
from MatambĂș.
âą Minority cultures will indeed get smaller or disappear
because changing times become more and more
demanding than before.
