So how will we diver the remaining 30% over the coming years? Improved on-site practice (Higher levels of segregation) Best waste management contractors, with latest technologies to maximise segregation for recycling For the last segment we will be relying on advances in technology, which are in the pipeline for many waste contractors. Advanced waste treatment (Energy from waste etc). Plasma arc treatment can eliminate hazardous wastes, and even melt asbestos fibres to an inert substance. IMPORTANT – Recycling will always be considered as a priority above recovery (Energy from Waste). Improved specification of materials to allow for easier segregation for recycling will contribute to levels of recycling.
