Who did you serve, and what did you accomplish that day?
Our volunteer team served Where Ya’ Rack?, a volunteer Founded in 2009 by a group of YLC member-volunteers, Where Ya’ Rack?
provides bicycle parking throughout the Greater New Orleans area. The mission of the project is to encourage bicycling
as an environmentally friendly and healthy option for commuting, short trips, and errands. To date, Where Ya’ Rack? has
installed more than 220 racks in Jefferson, Orleans, and St. Bernard Parishes.
In 2013, Where Ya’ Rack expanded it’s bike rack installation to include larger corrals that can accommodate up to 10 bikes at a
time. Working with city officials and the RTA, Where Ya’ Rack? secured approval to install the first bike corral in the
French Quarter.
Volunteer project leaders C. Garlan White, Zach Gorres, Ronnie Rodriguez, and Dan Jatres installed the corral French Quarter at
Latrobe Park on September 17th in the preparation for a press conference and ribbon cutting on the 18 th. The group
spent the 17th installing the corral and the concrete bumpers that surround it, and returned on the 18 th for a press
conference with city officials and French Quarter residents.

What is your team's plan for an ongoing relationship with the nonprofit?
Each of the Where Ya’ Rack volunteers that participated in the French Quarter Corral installation is a regular volunteer with Where
Ya’ Rack? Rack installation requires a certain level of technical expertise, and the Where Ya’ Rack? volunteer team is
committed to being on-hand for installation, as well as providing training to incoming volunteers.
•
What would your nonprofit do if they won part of the prize money?
Where Ya’ Rack? would use the funds to purchase and install additional bike racks and corrals. Each bike rack costs $300 to install,
and each corral costs $2,500, so the amount of racks and corrals that could be installed would vary depending on the
amount awarded.
