Efforts took place on October 21-22, 2013,
during ONE Week

3. Our Team
75 associates volunteered over two days, in
four or eight hour shifts

4. Question 1: Who did you serve, and
what did you accomplish that day?
In addition to donating $2,000, three volunteer
groups from Capital One worked with Second
Harvest Food Bank during the company’s annual
ONE Week of service.
Associates helped distribute a massive amount of
produce donated from a local food show, as well
as helped repackage more than 45,000 pounds of
food at the food bank’s warehouse.

Second Harvest employs an efficient sorting
system to effectively unpack donations,
examine the food, sort it into categories, and
repackage the donations for distribution.
And, working the conveyor system was FUN too!

6. Question 2: What is your team's plan for
an ongoing relationship with the
nonprofit?
Capital One encourages all associates to
participate in our annual ONE Week
volunteer efforts. Second Harvest Food
Bank is one of our regular community
partners.

Our group enjoyed volunteering at Second Harvest so
much, we plan to select this group for our ONE Week
volunteer activity next year.
In addition, we are on watch for any additional
volunteering opportunities during high need periods,
like the holidays.

8. Question 3: What would your
nonprofit do if they won part of the
prize money?
Second Harvest Food Bank would utilize the prize
money to continue their critical mission to feed the
hungry.
Second Harvest assists 250,000 people in the New
Orleans and surrounding area annually with their food
needs.
Currently, they are able to provide enough food to
serve an estimated 63,000 meals each week.

nonprofit do if they won part
of the prize money?

Awarding Second Harvest prize money would allow
them to reach even more people in need. In
America, no one should go hungry.
Second Harvest is leading the fight against hunger,
and we should support them in their mission
financially and with our time.

10. The Best Reason to Award
Financial Support to Second
Harvest Food Bank
Ten dollars donated to Second Harvest
provides 28 meals to community
members in need.
Most of us spend $10 on one meal at a fast food
restaurant. The impact Second Harvest is able to make
with so little demands our attention and support.
