Dancing Slovenian tra-ditional
dance polka
and waltz
About polka and waltz
The traditional music
dance of Slovenia is
closely related to Aus-trian
music because of
its common history and
Alpine and littoral cul-ture.
Croatian and Nor-thern
Italian music
from the regions close
to Slovenian border
also bear some resem-blance
to Slovenian
music. In the minds of
many foreigners, Slove-nian
folk music means
a form of polka that is
still popular today,
especially among
expatriates and their
descendants. However,
there are many styles of
Slovenian folk music
beyond polka, kolo and
waltz. Lender, štajeriš,
mafrine and šaltin are a
few of the traditional
music styles and dances.
The polka is a Central
European dance and
also a genre of dance
music familiar througho-ut
Europe and the Ame-ricas.
It originated in the
middle of the 19th
century in Bohemia. Polka is
still a popular genre of folk
music in many European
countries and is performed
by folk artists.

Introducing hobby: Throwing
Tone Pugelj introduce us
one unusual hobby, it’s
called throwing.
Throwing or Cornhole
game, also known as
bean bag toss, corn toss,
baggo or bags, is a lawn
game in which players
take turns throwing bags
of corn at a raised
platform with a hole in
the far end. The history
of this game is much
unknown. It is one very
interesting game. It’s
very simple game and
you can make it on your own.
At the beginning he introduced us some basic rules.
its game for 2 or 1 player in 1 or 2 teams per side
Coin toss to throw first
Game is up to 21
Bean bags (or corn, wheat) both start on one side. Team that won toss
throws first.
Once that person has thrown the bags the
other person throws theirs. Do not remove
the bags from the board until both players
have thrown, you can knock around the oth-er
teams bags.

7. S T R A N 7
Introducing hobby: Throwing
Scoring
Points: On the Board: 1 Point In the Hole: 3 Points
Scoring works by taking the difference of the
points accumulated. So if team A gets 1 on the
board and 1 in the hole and team B only gets 2 on
the board, then team A would be granted 2 points
and team B would get none.
The game is great fun
for all ages and can be
played anywhere!
