2. The history
It’s one of the most important gastronomic
festivals in Italy. It was established on 25th
October 1929 thanks to Giacomo Morra. He
wanted to gain worldwide recognition of this
product from Alba. The festival became
national in 1963 and international in 2007.
3. What does the festival consist
in?This year the festival starts on 8th October and
finishes on 27th November. It usually takes place in
Maddalena’s courtyard where you can taste other
typical Piemonte cuisine in addition to the white
truffle such as Langhe appetizers or Agnolotti and
Tajarin or Brasato meat cooked with Barolo wine.
You can finish off the meal with “Grappa del
Vecchio Piemonte”. Before leaving, all the guests
receive a bottle of Langhe wine as a present.
4. Tuber Magnatum Pico
Tuber Magnatum Pico is the original name for
white truffle. There are two main types of
truffle but Langhe and Monferrato’s white
truffle are the most refined, expensive and
the biggest.
5. Let’s visit Turin!
If you go to Alba, you should also visit
Turin, one of the most important cities in
Italy. It was the first Italian capital. There
you can see Mole Antoneliana (the
national cinema museum), the Egyptian
museum (one of the most important after
the one in Cairo), Castello Square (the
main square of Turin with the Madama
Palace, Regio Theatre and San
Lorenzo's Church) and the Royal Palace
(the first and most important Savoy
residence).
