The Costa Concordia was a cruise ship that wrecked off the coast of Italy in January 2012, resulting in 32 deaths. The ship struck a reef and capsized just off the tiny Tuscan island of Giglio after the captain made an unauthorized deviation from the planned route. Over 4,000 passengers and crew were evacuated from the ship over the course of several hours.
