• About the Sport: Wheelchair tennis is a sport adapted for
person with disabilities in their lower bodies. This is one of the
official Paralympics sports and also played at Grand slams.
There are three categories; Men, Ladies, and Quads and each
category has singles and doubles tournaments. Quads is the
category for those with quadriplegia and it is sometimes called
Mixed especially at Paralympics Games. Quads players can hold
rackets taped to the hand and use electric-powered wheelchairs.
• How different from pedestrian tennis: Athletes use specially
designed Wheelchairs and the ball may bounce up to two times.
The second bounce may also occur outside of the field.

Achievements so far
• Significant improvement in his game in recent year and was a
finalist of doubles in the Tournament conducted by Rotary
Club of Madras Industrial City , a competition held in
Chennai at SDAT stadium Nugambakam.
• Reached Quarter finals in Nationals conducted by Karnataka
Wheelchair tennis association (KWTA) in Bangalore
conducted on December 2014.
• Holds 5th place as per ranking given by KWTA.

5. Major challenge
• Presently he is using the wheelchair provided
by KWTA, which would restrict him to
participate in future tournaments that would
be held out of Karnataka. Lack of Good
sporting wheelchair and funds is challenging
him to participate in further tournaments
conducted abroad.
