This document provides a 3-step process for what to do after a needlestick or body fluid exposure at work: 1) Clean the exposed area with soap and water or saline; 2) Call the needlestick hotline to access confidential follow-up care including source patient evaluation, prophylaxis, counseling, and testing; 3) Notify your supervisor and complete workers' compensation paperwork.
