Google has announced that mobile-friendliness will become an important ranking factor in mobile search results starting April 21, 2015. This webinar presentation explains the algorithm and how to find out if you are mobile friendly.
2. Google Announcement
February 2015
“As more people use mobile devices to access the
internet, our algorithms have to adapt to these
usage patterns.”
If a site is not mobile friendly, it
will be demoted in mobile search
engine rankings.
6. Your Site Must Be Mobile Friendly
When someone views a website on a smartphone that is not mobile
friendly, they see a tiny scaled down version of the site. They must
pinch, zoom and scroll horizontally in order to read the content and
navigate. Users find this frustrating and are likely to abandon the
site.
7. Google’s Mobile Friendly Definition
• No Flash
• Content adjusts to viewport size – responsive
design
• Fonts that scale for easier reading
• Easy to touch, well spaced elements
• CSS and JavaScript visible to Google crawlers
8. How Do You Know If Your
Website is Mobile Friendly?
The fastest way to see if
your web pages are mobile
friendly is to see if you have
the mobile friendly label in
the live mobile search
results.
