Things in common 
 Middle eastern countries are usually 
linked by Islam the most common religion 
there. 
 Most of the famous empires and religions 
were born there, such as Assyrian 
Empire, the Persian Empire, Egyptian 
empire, Macedonian empire, Arab 
empire, Mongol empire, and Ottoman 
empire. 
 Nowadays the political situation in the 
middle east is not very proper, and in 
most countries you witness civil wars or 
the trying to communicate with the

 The Arabic language, the most 
widely spoken, is a rich 
language, The five top 
languages, in terms of 
numbers of speakers, are 
Arabic, Persian, Turkish, 
Berber, and Kurdish. Arabic 
and Berber represent the Afro- 
Asiatic language family. 
Persian and Kurdish belong to 
the Indo-European language 
family. And Turkish belongs to 
Turkic language family. About 
20 minority languages are also 
 Some of the spoken 
languages are: 
• Arabic 
• Turkish 
• Persian 
• Assyrian 
• Armenian 
• Kurdish 
• Turkmen
Religion

• According to the list of 
states, the Middle East is 
almost populated by 
Muslims. However, this 
religion masks a number of 
important distinctions. There 
are a number of different 
sects within Islam. Most 
Middle Eastern are Sunni or 
Shia. 
• But other faiths that 
originated there, such as 
Judaism and Christianity, are 
also well represented.

Shia or Sunni? 
These two are the most common sectors in Islam and the middle east. Many 
countries, such as Iraq, Bahrain and somehow Lebanon have been fighting 
about which is the ruler. 
Iran is the only fully Shia country and other Islamic countries in middle east are 
either Sunni or half Shia. 
Muharram is one of the most important months that Shias care about, and 
have major mourning.
Economy 
• Middle Eastern economies 
range from very poor 
(Afghanistan, Gaza and 
Yemen) to extremely wealthy 
(Qatar and UAE). Overall, as 
of 2007 all nations in the 
Middle East are maintaining a 
positive rate of growth. 
• The economic of Middle 
Eastern nations are different 
that some nations are heavily 
dependent on export of only oil 
and oil-related products , 
others have a highly diverse 
economic base.(Egypt, Israel,

• Afghanistan
Tourism 
• With the exception of 
Cyprus, Turkey, Egypt, 
Lebanon and Israel, 
tourism has been an 
undeveloped economy, 
because of the socially 
conservative nature as 
well as political 
problems in Middle East.
