TOPIC: Agile and Testing
Quality assurance and testing in agile methods like Scrum are generally referred to as 'agile testing'. Much of the reference material available for agile testing comes from the product development part of the software industry, leaving those working in enterprise software with many examples that just don't apply to their situation. In this talk, Adam explores agile testing in the enterprise context, describing practices like test-driven development and behavior-driven development along the way. Adam will also explain why agile testing places so much emphasis on test automation and the 'whole team approach' to quality assurance and testing. The bottom line - what this means to enterprise projects and the people working on them - positions testing skills as core skills for organizations as those projects shift towards agile methods.
PRESENTER:
Adam Geras is a researcher, coach, and speaker for those that test software. He specializes in systems delivery methods, particularly methods that enhance communications within teams. Most recently Adam has been adapting agile principles and methods to large-scale test management services for enterprise programs and projects. Adam has worked in IT for over 23 years initially as a developer and architect and over the last 8 years, quality assistant, test manager and coach to large projects. He has a Bachelor of Computer and Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba (1989) and a Masters in Electrical Engineering from the University of Calgary (2004).
