Job Summary:
This is a Global Role. The position will develop and implement sourcing strategies for
Electronic & Electro Mechanical Components, Printed Circuit Board Assembly and related
Turnkey products. Position will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, implementing and
administering long term supply agreements. Key responsibilities include identifying &
mitigating supply chain risks, including obsolescence, participating in cross-functional teams,
researching best commodity practices, achieving cost reduction initiatives and developing
and executing sourcing strategies.
Requirements:
Work with the Electronics Design Team and Production Material Planning Groups,
worldwide.
Be a strong team player with ability to work effectively on cross-functional Projects
across the entire Group.
Deliver NEW Product Introduction (NPI) to meet cost targets, mitigate risk, support
the supplier quotation process and part availability for launch.
Deliver the best total acquisition cost (TAC) for the business.
Carry out periodic reviews with direct and sub-tier suppliers to ensure that they
satisfy the ongoing requirements of Rotork, and that Rotork is contractually
protected from predictable problems and risk.
Sourcing support - investigates potential suppliers.
Participate in Supplier quality activities such as corrective action completion.
May coordinate and negotiate corporate contracts for assigned commodities with
the expectation of providing purchase price reductions and establishing purchase
pricing.
Qualifies suppliers through Supplier Assessment and Risk Analysis audits and
continuously review supplier’s performance.
Coordinates with Engineering Design teams on new product development, design for
cost (DFC) and risk mitigation.
Must be capable of handling multiple projects at one time.
As applicable, must be able to expedite critical components and assist with supplier
related Disaster Recovery activities.
Ability to interact and develop relationships across the supply chain.
Demonstrated analytical and practical problem solving skills.
Must be able to develop excellent working relationship with both internal and
external customers as well as suppliers.
Maintain supplier relationships in order to drive cost reductions while continually
achieving the highest level of quality material.
Use data analysis to mitigate risk, drive continuous improvement and deliver savings
to the business.
Ability to evaluate procurement marketplace for Electronic & Electro Mechanical and
PCBA commodities.
2. Remains current on economic, industrial and other trends that affect market and
prices.
Ability to read engineering blueprints or any relevant technical documents.
Technical understanding of Electronic & Electro Mechanical Components, PCBA’s and
one-stop-shop solutions.
Ability to interface effectively with company and supplier senior management.
Decisive, commercially aware.
Excellent negotiation, presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
Provide cover for absent colleagues.
Be willing to travel overseas.
Current valid driving licence.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Purchasing in the commercial and industrial environment.
Technical purchasing and out-sourcing skills.
Purchasing experience in an MRP environment.
Understanding manufacturing processes and specifications.
Knowledge of import / export logistics and cost.
Project Management experience.
Solid skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Willingness and ability to train and teach other less experienced purchasing
personnel as well as explain the purchasing role to other company departments.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
8 plus years purchasing experience.
Undergraduate degree in Supply Chain Management, Materials Management,
Production and Operations Management, Purchasing, Engineering, Business
Administration, Finance or other related field. In lieu of degree, extensive knowledge
in the procurement of Electronic & Electro Mechanical Components, PCBA’s and
related Turnkey products to include tactical and strategic purchasing experience at a
management level.
CIPS certifications a plus.
Graduate degree in Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Production
and Operations Management, Purchasing, Engineering, Business Administration,
Finance or other related field a plus.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities at this time. The position will be teamed with
other Strategic Buyers and will provide guidance to Buyers with respect to strategies,
sourcing and other strategic and tactical aspects of Purchasing.
