We are a small special library, essentially supporting SAIAB and Rhodes University faculty and students. “Contributing to research and teaching in aquatic biodiversity through heritage collections and a global web of data”.
The library can be ‘without walls” or virtual if we make use of technology like digitisation, and social media applications – and integrate all platforms.
Still a mantra for present-day librarians.
2. Respect all forms by which knowledge is communicated. 3. Use technology intelligently to enhance services.

Library online presence on the SAIAB website http://www.saiab.ac.za/library.htm and the Libguide at http://ru.za.libguides.com/saiablibrary Libguide. Social media we currently use (June 2016) to enhance these web pages, and for teaching, research and outreach.
