In order to make people aware of the event, Foundation Events used the following two methods: 1) A post on Leeds Metropolitan University’s portal, Xstream 2) A facebook page. These are useful ways to address the younger age band of the target public – Facebook is one of the most popular social network sites and by posting an announcement on Xstreme, it can be seen by the thousands of students attending Leeds Met. However, this is not a very effective in addressing the older age band at the other end of the target publics, whom may not actively use social networking sites, nor are they students. Put posters around the city, particularly places such as supermarkets

Two comedy performances from Mark Rough and Alfie Moore

RaffleFoundation Events, on behalf of Sue Ryder Care, were able to hire the venue out for free. La Tasca also agreed to provide the guests with their meal and drink free of charge. Mark Rough and Alfie Moore (comedians) agreed to perform for free. A selection of stores and organizations donated free items which were to be used as raffle prizes. These generous contributions meant that there was no expenditure, meaning that all funds raised from the tickets went to Sue Ryder Care, which was the overall aim of the event. 933450156210 The Event Timeline of events Venue 2533650552450As guests were taken to the downstairs restaurant, they were approached by members of Foundation Events staff who were sitting at the ‘Welcome desk’. The desk was decorated with Sue Ryder decorations. Raffle tickets were also sold at the desk throughout the evening. By placing this desk here, it reminded guests of the charity behind the event and not only encouraged guests to make contributions, but also to purchase raffle tickets. The restaurant was also decorated with Sue Ryder balloons and wall posts. Letters addressed to guests listing the highlights of the night and the foundations of the charity were also placed on each table, raising awareness of Sue Ryder Care, which was one of the main aims of the event. The venue was small but accommodated well for the amount of guests who attended. However, when it came to the performances from the comedians, guests had to move to other seats and sit next to people who they weren’t familiar with in a crowded environment, which may have caused some discomfort to some guests. A solution to this problem would be to re-locate to a different venue of a similar layout and size but which also includes a stage, for example ‘Tiger Tiger’ which is close to the original venue, La Tasca in Leeds. Meal Guests were offered 1 drinks token which were only applicable to a selection of drinks. Guests were not offered the full menu but alternatively had a set menu which also met vegetarian dietary needs. Performances Each performance lasted approximately 15 minutes. The comedians were very active with the audience which intensified the performance, making it more entertaining. Raffle ‘Foundation Events’ were successful in getting the items for the raffle donated by organizations and retailers with no fee. In additional to this, the item range was one to fit all gender and ages of the public. For example, Tesco’s donated a selection of wine and champagne whereas Clinique (a cosmetic organization) donated a hamper set. Other In the restaurants, the lights were dimmed and Spanish themed music played in the background. This created a very relaxed yet friendly atmosphere. 9525260985Staff wore all black clothing with name tags and so were easy to identify in case any guests came across any inconveniences, problems etc. In relation to the timeline, the orders of events were very effective. By choosing to have meals first, it gives guests the opportunity to claim their free drink and continue buying, possibly giving people time and loosen up and relax a bit which may have enabled them to enjoy the comedian’s performances more. By leaving the raffle till the end, it meant that the guests had more time to buy raffle tickets and therefore increasing the income and so raising more money for Sue Ryder Care – one of the aims of the event.
