11. “The real question always must be, "what applications of technology are available that will help our students, staff, and administration work smarter, not harder?"(See, 2004) These applications are driving the need for new technology in the classroom. Instructional Software/Hardware: Kidspiration, Inspiration, Adobe CS5, Office 2007, KidPix, Type to Learn 4, Publisher, SRA TechKnowledge, TechConnect, Larsons Math, Read 180 & System 44, Graph Club, Graph Master, TimeLiner, UnitedStreaming, ActivInspire, ActivStudio, ActivExpressions, ActivSlates, ActivTablets, Compass Learning, Geometer's Sketchpad
12. The NETP 2010: “The model of learning requires new and better ways to measure what matters, diagnose strengths and weaknesses in the course of learning when there is still time to improve student performance, and involve multiple stakeholders in the process of designing, conducting, and using assessment. In all these activities, technology-based assessments can provide data to drive decisions on the basis of what is best for each and every student and that, in aggregate, will lead to continuous improvement across our entire education system.” (National Education Technology Plan 2010 Executive Summary, 2010) Assessment: Measure What Matters The AISD Plan meets the NETP 2010 objective: OBJECTIVE 1.2: Teachers and administrators will utilize technology to assist in the curriculum development process and curriculum management. 15. Teaching: Prepare and Connect NETP 2010: “Just as leveraging technology can help us improve learning and assessment, the model of learning calls for using technology to help build the capacity of educators by enabling a shift to a model of connected teaching. In such a teaching model, teams of connected educators replace solo practitioners, classrooms are fully connected to provide educators with 24/7 access to data and analytic tools, and educators have access to resources that help them act on the insights the data provide.”(National Education Technology Plan 2010 Executive Summary, 2010) AISD Plan: GOAL 2: Educator Preparation: Alvin Independent School District will provide high quality staff development and mentoring to ensure the effective integration of technology by all teachers. OBJECTIVE 2.1: Train appropriate staff on using technology for administrative purposes. E-Rate Correlates: ER01, ER02 NCLB Correlates: 04b OBJECTIVE 2.2: Train instructional staff on job-specific technology skills. E-Rate Correlates: ER01, ER02 NCLB Correlates: 01, 02, 04a, 04b
18. Infrastructure: Access and Enable NETP 2010: “An essential component of the learning model is a comprehensive infrastructure for learning that provides every student, educator, and level of our education system with the resources they need when and where they are needed. The underlying principle is that infrastructure includes people, processes, learning resources, policies, and sustainable models for continuous improvement in addition to broadband connectivity, servers, software, management systems, and administration tools. Building this infrastructure is a far-reaching project that will demand concerted and coordinated effort.” (National Education Technology Plan 2010 Executive Summary, 2010) AISD Plan: GOAL 4: Infrastructure: Alvin Independent School District will maintain and continue to update a strong technology infrastructure to support administrative and instructional functions. 24. Productivity: Redesign and Transform NETP 2010: “To achieve our goal of transforming American education, we must rethink basic assumptions and redesign our education system. We must apply technology to implement personalized learning and ensure that students are making appropriate progress through our P–16 system so they graduate. These and other initiatives require investment, but tight economic times and basic fiscal responsibility demand that we get more out of each dollar we spend. We must leverage technology to plan, manage, monitor, and report spending to provide decision-makers with a reliable, accurate, and complete view of the financial performance of our education system at all levels. Such visibility is essential to meeting our goals for educational attainment within the budgets we can afford.” (National Education Technology Plan 2010 Executive Summary, 2010) AIDS Plan: GOAL 3: Leadership, Administration, and Instructional Support: Alvin Independent School District will emphasize a vision of leadership for technology. AISD will continuously monitor and adjust the plan as needed throughout the year as part of the evaluation process The intention of the evaluation will be to make decisions on the impact has on the learning process for all students. Adjustments will be made mid-year as recommended an approved by the District Technology Leadership Team and an evaluation of the program will be given to the Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction (Alvin ISD Technology Planning Committee, 11/1/2010) Evaluation Method: Each teacher will complete the Texas Teacher STaR Chart annually. Each campus will then complete the Texas Campus Star Chart using data collected from the teacher, librarians, administrators, students and technology staff. Results will then be analyze to determine progress in meeting the goal of Alvin ISD’s Strategic plan and TEA’s Long Range Plan for Technology. (Alvin ISD Technology Planning Committee, 11/1/2010)
