3. Layout
The layout of Clash’s table of content is
Text at the top
unconventional seeing as it is layout out as a
double page spread would do. However, the
layout is clear and unambiguous and
therefore it is easier for the audience to read
and to find out what pages belong to which
pages. Another unconventional aspect of this
table of content is that the images are at the
bottom and the text is at the top of the
pages, and therefore challenges conventions.
The conventional way of laying out a table of
content is on one page, with images of one
side and the text on the other, therefore this
clearly goes against the conservative trait of a

usual table of content.
4. Imagery / Mise-en-scene
The images that are displayed in this table of
content are images that are featured within the
magazine. This is what inspired me to do the
same for my music magazine, seeing as for
mine, I had also used images that were to be
featured within my magazine and I also used
photos that represented my model on my front
cover. The mise-en-scene of the images are
mostly in studios e.g. Florence and the Machine,
Anthony Gonzales from M83 and The Big Pink.
5. Colour Scheme & Themes
The colour scheme of this
Clash magazine looks
inconsistent for the fact that
the front cover is blue and
white, whereas this table of
content is black and white,
and therefore in this case
look inconsistent. However,
the font is the same,
therefore in that aspect
flows. The colour scheme are
contrasted and therefore
goes against conventions.
