1. MISER’S WEALTH
Kanji was a rich businessman. He made a lot of money, but he never
spent it. Kanji was a great miser.
Since kanji lived in a small village. So it was not safe to keep the money
in the house. After a lot of thinking, he decided to keep his money in the
backyard.
There was a tree in his backyard. He dug the deep hole under the tree,
put all his money in the pot and covered it with a piece of cloth and
buried it. Kanji was worried that someone might steal his money. So
every night, he went to the backyard and started counting the money
then buried it and covering it well with mud. Then he would go to sleep
peacefully.
Kanji had a neighbor who was suspicious by nature. He thought, kanji
goes to the backyard every night and dig the ground. The neighbor had
decided to keep a close watch on kanji. One day he hid himself behind
the backyard and watched everything.
The following days, when kanji went away, the neighbor went to the
backyard. He dug the ground and took all the money in a cloth. He filled
the pot with pebbles and covered it well with mud and went away.
As usual, kanji went to the backyard. He dug the hole, removed the lid
and put his hand into the pot. He was shocked to find out the pebbles in
it. Then he started crying loudly. Hearing his cries, all neighbors came to
him and console and pacify him but he did not listen anyone.
Meanwhile, there was a headman who was wise man. He listen whole
story from kanji carefully. He consoled kanji and advised him that “Why
are you crying? You put those money for counting. So you can continue
your counting with pebbles. That money is not for use.
