- The SRI was developed at Madagascar and promoted throughout SouthEast Asia; a variant the Margate System of Intermittent Irrigation and Drainage was popularized in the Philippines sometime during the late 70’s.
- TQPM is another variant to offset the slow response or effect of organic fertilizer, known to restore the growth of micro-organism, as a booster applied during or after land preparation. Note the effect on plant color and stand compared with the straight SRI approach using organic fertilizer.
