Juniper Networks Certified Associate – JNCIA Junos
By : SAYED QAISAR SHAH

JNCIA Junos is an entry-level certification in the
portfolio of Juniper Networks.

The certification and the process of preparation is also outstanding. Almost all materials
for preparation are free. Juniper provides a great set of official materials, videos and
even a voucher for everyone who pass a practice test.

The JNCIA Junos certification was for years in the shade on CCNA. The new version of
the exam is on the same or even higher level. A great starting point for network
engineers.

What Exams You Must Pass to Become JNCIA Junos Certified
You must pass only one exam, JN0-101 (Juniper Networks Junos Associate – JNCIA
Junos). You do not need any prerequisites for the exam.

Format of the Exam
The exam is a normal computer-based set of 65 single and multi-choice questions. You
have 105 minutes for that.

Where You Can Pass the JNCIA Junos Exam
You can pass the exam in the nearest Prometric center.

How Much Does the JNCIA Junos Exam Cost
The exam costs $100 plus taxes.
You can also receive an exam voucher (50% discount) if you pass the pre-assessment
exam with the passing score above 70%. More about it the “How To Prepare” section in
this article.
How To Renew Your JNCIA Junos Certification
The JNCIA Junos certification is valid for two years. To renew the certification you must
pass an actual version of the JNCIA Junos exam (at this moment JN0-101) or pass one
of these JNCIS/JNCIP/JNCIE exams from the SP, ENT or SEC tracks. You must know
and understand basics of the Junos operating system and networking fundamentals.

How To Prepare to the JNCIA Junos Exam
 Books that will help you with your preparation process:
 Trainings
 The best way to prepare for the JNCIA Junos certification is the Fast
Track program. Just go to the website, create a free account and choose a 4-step
     track for the exam:
 Watch a free Networking Fundamentals training – you do not need a login for
            that
 Download two (free) student guides for the JNCIA Junos preparation
 Pass the Pre-assessment Exam (25 questions). If you pass this exam (70%)
you will receive a voucher for the real exam (50%). You can try this test for
            many times.
 Register to the real exam and provide a voucher number during registration
 A free set of Junos Day One Books
 You can also register to a JNCIA Junos training. The training costs $1600 for two
days One day for Introduction to the Junos Operating System (IJOS) and second
for Junos Routing Essentials (JRE). If cannot find GlobalKnowledge trainings in
your country, you can use a search engine on the Juniper website: JRE and IJOS
 A good set of videos from CBT Nuggets for $500 (You can watch a preview of
      each video for FREE)
 Practice Test
 Juniper provides a free practice test for the JNCIA Junos exam. You need a free
account on the Juniper website for that.
 How to Build a Virtual Lab for the JNCIA exam
 You should (must) train everything that you have learned. The ideal solution is
your own set of Juniper routers. You can train also almost everything in a GN3
environment. The installation is tricky, but you have an option for train in the
home-based environment without buying routers. We recommend real Juniper
        routers.
