 In my Social Studies Common Assessment I am
going to describe five products. They are soft
drinks, laptops, music players, mobile phones
and computer games. I will choose some brand
names and describe why I chose them. I will
also tell you how the product I chose
contributes to my identity. The teachers have
asked us to demonstrate what we have learned
over the months through this assignment.
 Electronic devices IPAD
 Vehicles BMW
 Soft drinks PEPSI
 Food SWENSONS
 Clothing LEVI JEANS
Soft Drinks
Brand: Pepsi
I was influenced to choose this product because it is
consumed in big numbers. I was influenced to choose
this brand because Pepsi is the most popular soft drink.
People who would buy this would have no value for
health and money. Buyers who do not like soft drinks
would drink water, have no health problems and know
how to use their money. The marketing technique used
in this ad is called “Associating the product with a
celebrity”. I think so because on the brand cover there
are pictures of famous soccer players.
 Electronic devices
 Brand: Apple IPAD
 I was influenced to choose this product because it is
very popular around the world. I was influenced to
choose this brand because it represents the latest music
players. People who value money would buy an IPOD
instead of buying a $500 multi-purpose music player.
People who want to buy an IPAD would just purchase
because of its newness. The marketing technique used
in this is called “Scale”. The Apple company is trying
to make the IPAD look bigger than it actually is.
Increase its price, make its size bigger. I mean it has all
the same features that an IPOD touch has.
 Clothes
 Brand: Levi Jeans
 I was influenced in choosing this product because I
have seen so many posters which describe clothing. I
chose this brand because I have seen so many
billboards representing this brand. People who would
buy this would be teenagers. Teenagers prefer to wear
jeans most of the time. Values associated with
teenagers are rebellious. I think the marketing
technique used in this ad is called “Perceptions of
Beauty”. I think so because people buy jeans to make
themselves look cool.
 Food
 Brand: Swensons Ice creams
 I chose this product because it is what keeps us
alive. I chose this brand because I have seen it
many malls in different countries. People who
would buy these ice creams would it give to
their kids. Kids love sweets and maybe this
brand is trying to target them. The marketing
techniques used in this is “Sounds Good”.
 Vehicles
 BMW Cars
 I chose this product because it is vehicles that
allows us to reach far away lands. I chose this
brand because it is very popular among the
society. People who would buy this car would
often be elegantly fashioned. The marketing
technique used in this brand is called “Product
Placement”. In Bangkok you can see that there
is a huge poster placed on the building called
Byok Tower. This product is also seen in
newspapers.
