1. Lead Exposure from My Michelle Clothing
The New York brand “My Michelle” has been found to contain high amounts of lead in about 90,000
items sold. These items were distributed to popular stores such as Burlington Coat Factory, Dillard's, J.C.
Penney, Kohl's, Army and Air Force Exchange (AAFES), K & G Fashion Superstore and more. The
items were sold between January 2011 and March 2011.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission states the clothing should be immediately returned. If

While the CPSC has not reported any adverse effects from the clothing, it is important to remain vigilant
to the symptoms of lead exposure, especially in children.
Symptoms include:
Tiredness or loss of energy
Hyperactivity
Irritability or crankiness
Reduced attention span
Poor appetite
Weight loss
Reduced attention span
Trouble sleeping
Constipation
Aches or pains in stomach
You may not always be able to tell if a child has lead poisoning as the symptoms can mimic an illness or
not be present at all. The only sure way to tell if a child has been exposed to dangerous levels of lead is to
administer a blood test. If a child has prolonged exposure to lead it can lead to permanent and irreversible
damage that affects all organs in the body. These effects vary from brain damage and organ failure to
even death.
