Greek Mythology ,[object Object],{
The Myth of Demeter Demeter is the Goddess of the harvest. She was loved by all mankind, she had beautiful and carefree daughter named Persephone. Persephone loved to play and dance in the field of wild flowers. But one day when Persephone was about to pick up a wild flower, the ground opened up. The hands of Hades reached out of the under world and grabbed Persephone to live down there with him. Hearing the cry of her beloved daughter Demeter ran down to the field searching for Persephone. But when Demeter could not find Persephone , she began to search night and day none stop. Feeling betrayed by the person who kidnapped her daughter, Demeter swore that the Earth would remain barren until Persephone was returned to her. When Zeus heard about Demeter no longer providing the Earth with fertility, Zeus had no choice but to command Hades to release Persephone back to Demeter. As Persephone was leaving the under world, Hades offered her a pomegranate to eat. Persephone has not ate anything sense she has been there so of course she very hungry. Persephone accepted the pomegranate seeds from Hades, even though she knew not to eat anything from Hades. When Demeter heard that Persephone has ate the pomegranate seeds she was very upset knowing that Persephone will have to spend part of the year down in the underworld with Hades. For this reason is why we have seasons.
