- The first is all about ways to present….Whether to record the presentation and present to a class via a video OR to take the class in-world for live presentations… Here, I’d love to have you chime in with a video of your avatar in-world viewing different religions. If you need help doing this, let me know and we’ll set up a day in my office to record ;-) If you use this as a learning object for a future class…PERFECT!!!! The actual presentation (these slides) will be in Second Life to demo a live view…Also, the movie you create will be streamed through Second life via a QuickTime stored on a faculty website…Do you have one of these???? When ideas come…I have a flip chart…or we can use the whiteboard…for ideas on other topics as people shout…I hope…
- On this slide…demonstration on importing images into Second Life and how videos can be housed on Web Sites. Resources for making videos including ScreenCast, Jing, Camtasia, iMovie. The presenting side is how to decide what to do. Pros and cons of going in-world directly during class. Cons including sites changing/disappearing, unwanted interaction with other avatars, griefing, under-powered classroom equipment, etc. Pros include more direct experience, interaction with other avatars, spontaneity of experience. We may need to talk about setting up and accessing faculty websites. I at least am having problems with this one. ;-)Might also want to talk about the challenges of having students go in-world themselves. Challenges I see are under-powered student equipment, no access in library/computer labs (?), underage students who can’t access the adult SL site. We can frame these in terms of pedagogical decisions. What best serves the goals of the learning experience.If voice is activated, etc…Can you think of anything else???
- Everyone goes in-world here to build…I’ll have supplies…and two extra avatars for use in the class for those just in case…SirenaChild can also be used by someone in the class. She’s fairly compliant ;-)
