Project
- Create an interconnected shelving
display for an exclusive editor preview
for Target with David Stark Design.
Our client was releasing a new "Made
to Matter" line of Earth-friendly
products that they wanted to pull
together into a cohesive group. I
designed a shelving system based on
an interlocking structure that would
show, metaphorically, how the different
products were linked.

We were given 60 to 70 products by 19 different companies and had to pull them
together in a rational way. We grouped the products into four groups and sub-
divided them into units that would fit well in our system.

Installation
Because of production constraints, we
needed the shelves to be low-cost,
flexible, and built on-site. The initial
design was based on a tinker toy. The
center discs were a sandwich of plywood
and CNC-cut MDF. The vertical and
diagonal struts are 1/2" dowels.
