 More specific direction may be given in
statement or guidelines, which tell how
to apply the code, as done by the
National Society of Professional
Engineering’s Board of Ethical Review.

7.  Engineers shall acknowledge their errors
and shall not distort or alter the facts.
 Engineers shall advise their clients or
employers when they believe a project
will not be successful.

 The diversity of moral viewpoint among
individual engineers make it essential
that professional establish explicit

high) standard.
 In this way, the public is assured of a
minimum standard of excellence on
which it can depend, and professionals
are provided a fair playing field in
competing for client.

professional seeking to act ethically.
A publicity proclaimed code allows an
engineer, under pressure to act
unethically, to say “ I am bound by the
code of ethics of my profession, which
states that …”.

for living up to work-related professional

for investigating unethical conduct.

provided.
