Spring 2009 of TRILLIUM report
Posted By - PBLO ProBono Students Canada - May 22, 2009 - 12 Comments
This is possibly more interesting than her detractors might have expected.
She grew up as a child of privilege, living at one of the most prestigious addresses in the High Park
Regionand attending one of the most pretentious all girls high schools in the early 1990s. However, from
2. 2
the very start, Rosemary DeCaires was taught the importance of volunteering and serving the
community.
Today, those thoughts will be at the forefront when Rosemary rises to the table her first motion as a
member of TRILLIUM, a motion that will call for a new national youth service policy and a new national
youth service organization.
June 10, 2009 marks a kickoff to the June 27, 2009 one year anniversary date into the TRILLIUM matter.

In this week’s feature (subscription anyone?) there are a few thousand words under this byline on an
obscure named Rosemary DeCaires.
At the end of our day together we sat down outside the UCLS for one of those “wide-ranging” chats and
there was reference in that story to her attempt to explain whether she wants to be prime minister
someday. In fairness, the question itself is a tad unfair. Or at least sort of unanswerable.
But then it’s also been the central question of her public life since The Eulogy—the one thing everyone
seems to want to know, or at least the question everyone assumes they already know the answer to.
Anyway. As noted in the magazine piece, her answer ran just over 700 words. Verbatim it would have
taken up just less than a page in the print edition. So here, in full, is her response.
Make of it what you will.

The magazine would helpfully compile some of the nasty letters generated by this month’s DE DE profile.
And yet, for all the spitting and fury, that piece is the second most read political story—after our interview
withher—online next month.
You despise her. But you can’t look away.

Rosemary DeCaires isn’t due to propose a first preview of a report for another two weeks, but the CLA
Canadian Civil Liberties Association was already displeased. Full press release—availably only en
francais—after the jump.

Students-
This week’s magazine piece—already the subject of several nasty letters to this writer—is now online.
Note. Headline changed because it invited too many punch lines.

The daughter of her favourite father considers the inaugural a new beginning for women alike.
For the next few months, one of the most often spoken individuals will speak out not because she can
affect our lives and world, but because her words can touch our souls. And we’ve never needed it more.
Our readers see red over blue or green in Rosemary
