EVERYTHING STARTS WITH A DREAM Welcome to my life in the event industry, a field that has been my passion for over two decades. Although this book is about the challenges faced over the years of working in events, it is not just a book about event management. I firmly believe that the lessons I learnt can be relevant to any business or daily life situations. This is the story of how I started my business in the entertainment and event management industry, even though I had zero experience. Through imagination, dreams and taking action, I turned my ideas into reality. Along the way, I experienced moments of pressure, stress, fun, excitement, anger, and happiness. In retrospect, I realized the valuable lessons that shaped me into the person I am today. This book provides you, the reader, with the strategies and insights that have guided me towards success in this dynamic industry. I aim to save you time and effort by sharing my experiences, both the struggles and triumphs, as a well of knowledge from which you can draw. This is especially valuable if you aspire to enter the world of event management. I describe this industry as “Good from far, far from good” to show how demanding it is to produce events on time and with quality. While we heavily rely on our teams and freelancers, we can achieve anything by working in a focused and strategic manner. I have had the privilege of working on various events, from conferences to product launches, awards night to fashion shows and musical concerts collaborating with clients from various backgrounds and industries. However, event management is not without its challenges. The long hours, tight deadlines and unexpected surprises can create a high-stress environment. Therefore, it is crucial to build a sound foundation of skills, knowledge, and the right mindset to navigate these challenges and thrive in this field. In the midst of learning about my experiences, there are also tips and tricks you can learn from to manage events effectively.
