Overnight Khwai Luxury Tented Camp - B/L/D
5. About The Khwai Luxury Tented Camp - the camp is the perfect blend and co-existence between
man and nature, where you will experience the best of wildlife in Botswana's iconic Moremi Game
Reserve combined with a taste of culture in the old village of Khwai. This is the old African safari
experience, luxury semi-permanent tented camp Hemingway style that takes you back to
experiencing Africa in a tent in a wilderness area. It is a combination of luxury camping and a
permanent camp with the best wildlife highlights set in a community based wildlife resource area.
Cuisine : although the camp is very remote in the bush, we pride ourselves on genuine cuisine
prepared in traditional bush-style with high quality, tasteful, fresh products. The day starts with early
morning buffet breakfast, before the morning game drive, and will be followed by a brunch made of
various fresh ingredients. Snacks and cakes are available through the day, sundowner drinks are
offered either during game drives or in front of the campfire. A wide selection of drinks is available at
the bar.
About the Moremi Game Reserve - Wildlife & Activities
The environment : Khwai is a private community run concession on the eastern border of the
Moremi Game Reserve along the river Khwai. The magnificent Khwai River forms a boundary
between the reserve and the community area, and is the hub for some of the most outstanding
wildlife viewing both on the Moremi and in the Khwai area. The river is the sole source of water for
miles around attracting wildlife from afar. The vegetation here is quite different from the Western
section of Moremi where great stands of leadwood and mopane woodlands occur in close proximity
to open grasslands and the Khwai River.
Wildlife : Wildlife encountered include lion, cheetah, leopard, wild dog, as well as a multitude of other
animals, including elephant, buffalo, zebra, hippo and giraffe to name a few.
The Khwai Community: It is quite unusual for a camp to be so close to a village, and this village is
home to river bushmen from the Bayei group, who carry out a naturally harmonious lifestyle. As
Khwai concession is community run, all proceeds from tourism go directly to help local people and
local projects through the Khwai Community Trust.
Activities : Game drives, guided walks and night drives, village visits to the Khwai Community, day
trips to Moremi Game Reserve. This being a community CONCESSION (meaning privately owned),
we will enjoy night drives as well as walking activities, which are not permitted in National Parks or
Game Reservesin addition to the usual game drives. Exploring after dark with spotlights offers you an
opportunity to experience some of the nocturnal animals that are rarely encountered during theday.
6. There is the added opportunity to explore the surrounding wilderness on foot and enjoy an up close
personal encounter with the flora and fauna. Visitors are encouraged to walk through the village of
Khwai, meet some of the elders, and learn how the people live alongside animals in close contact to
nature.
Our guides are some of the most experienced naturalists and professional guides in Botswana

About Moremi Crossing - the camp is a 16 tented camp built on a palm fringed island surrounded
by the Moremi's game-rich seasonal floodplains and overlooking Chief's Island. Moremi Crossing will
be a new style safari camp combining luxury with simplicity. This is a 100% eco-friendly development
7. featuring the latest in solar and waste disposal technology. The main building consists of a large open
plan deck that has a spectacular view over the Boro River onto Chief's Island. This crescent-shaped
area is built on different levels to give you the feeling of space. The dining room, bar and lounge are
covered by a large thatched roof that hugs the tree line. Various small private lounge areas have
been created for comfort, privacy and spaciousness. Within the tree line you will find a nice shaded
decked area that leads to the pool. Moremi also has a Curio Shop where you may pick up some
mementos which will remind you of your stay.
About The Okavango Delta - the delta is an immense river that never meets the sea. Instead, its
crystal clear waters spread across the Kalahari Desert, forming Africa 's largest wetland wonder. The
Delta is an abundant oasis amid the vast plains and pans of the desert that covers most of Southern
Africa . Its waterways are a mesh of meandering and intercepting channels, creating a haven for
Africa 's most celebrated wildlife.
