       A job can be defined as group of
       homogeneous tasks related by
       similarity of functions performed
       by an employee in an exchange
       for pay; a job consists of
       duties, responsibilities, and tasks
IMPORTANCE OF EMPLOYEE MOTIVATION
 Motivation is the prime driver to
  encourage any employee in
  organization.



                 The topic of employee motivation is not properly understood
                  and poorly practiced by many organizations; as a result there is
                  increase in employees leaving the organization in search of
                  better places to work




  Managers have the opportunity to influence the motivation of employees
  through design of their jobs. Well-designed jobs help accomplish two important
  goals: getting the necessary work done in a timely and competent manner, and
  motivating and challenging employees. Both the business and the employee
  benefit from successful job design
According to Michael Armstrong, "Job design is the process of deciding on the
contents of job in terms of its duties and responsibilities, on the methods to be
used in carrying out the job, in terms of techniques, systems and
procedures, and on the relationships that should exist between the job holders
and his superior, subordinates and colleagues.”
