Describes state of being or show a state
of being or show a state of existence
Smith is strange.
(is shows a state of existence)
Smith will always be my friend.

6. Linking verbs
Connect the subject of the verb to
additional information about the subject.
Kella is a shopaholic
( is isnt something that kella can do, is connect the subject, kella, to
additional information about her)
A ten– item quiz seems impossibly long after a
night of not studying.
(seems connect the subject, a ten- item quiz, with something said
about it, that difficulty depends on preparation, not lenght.)

11. FUTURE
TENSE
Verbs which express actions in the
future are said to be in the future
tense. These are usually formed by
preceding the verb with the word will.
I will take the blame.
