• Each Le Mat is a social enterprise. This means
that we plan, start and run our enterprises in a
collective way
• Le Mat acts on local level for sustainable and
responsible development and with a global
vision we cooperate across borders
• Le Mat Europe is a European social franchisor,
which strives to strengthen the brand and spread
Le Mat’s idea to other countries. By doing so
more social enterprises will start, and with them
additional job opportunities will arise.
Italian roots
• The first Le Mat hotel was started in
Trieste, Italy over 20 years ago.
• Le Mat is the French name of the fool in
the tarot card deck. The Fool is a kind
traveller, the spirit in search of
experience. He represents the mystical
cleverness bereft of reason within us, the
childlike ability to tune into the inner
workings of the world.

• Our brand is the bearer of our identity.
• What we fill our brand with and how we work with it
affect how others perceive us.
• The branding platform is our practical instrument,
which defines what we stand for.
• The platform will help those who work with and for Le

and services they find in the Le Mat franchisees.

The Le Mat Traveler
• Every Le Mat Traveler is special and unique!
• The Le Mat traveler is curious and wants to understand
what’s going on in the Le Mat community. She / he would
like to contribute; to enhance and criticize, thereby
becoming an important part of the community and its
developing projects.
• Every Le Mat traveler is precious, but we particularly
appreciate the participation and experiences of travelers
with disabilities.
• They can help us to learn how to become more accessible;
our buildings, landscapes, activities and environments
more useable and enjoyable for everyone.
The Le Mat Storytelling
• Social entrepeneurs are more than simple hoteliers: We
would like a tourism able to open the minds towards
those who are different from us, a tourism where you
can meet people who are curious to meet you; where
through travelling and discovering unfamiliar methods,
thoughts and actions you can listen to thousands of
stories and experiences of different cultures of local
communities willing to exchange with and to welcome
who come from abroad
