and how to screen Preps for poor PA, so you know which are your 'red alert'
children (who will struggle even if taught using phonics)
Module 2
Phonemic awareness within SSP, intro to the initial part of SpeedySSP (intensive small group
work) with Speech Sound Harry.
Module 3
What is 'phonics'? Intro to the Green Level - moving from speech to print, introducing the concept
of speech sounds linking with speech sound pics (phonemes)
Also included is an overview of the skills needed for children to read and spell with confidence, so
that you can see how these fit within SSP.

Resources to use within the Green Level, and how to involve parents and teaching assistants

2. Letter formation, and why we use RWI letter formation phrases and characters.

Decoding using the Speech Sound Pics family, and how to create an SSP Book Tier.

Module 14
Differentiated teaching using SSP. Meeting the needs of individual children,
ather than following a curriculum and hoping all children can do so at the
same rate. Focus on SpeedySSP - 90 minute - 2 hour teaching block.
Module 15
Dyslexia Alert Screening for 5 year olds, in 5 minutes.
Assessing and monitoring progress with older students.
Final activity involves undertaking a SpeedySSP session with a small group
of children in Prep, and reporting on findings. You'll also critique your own
teaching (so it needs to be videoed)
