1. Make the most
of your fundraising
Tell your story
Why are you fundraising for ReachOut!? Have you volunteered with us? If you have, tell people about why you love
RO!and what difference the funds will make (see below for ideas). Feel free to get in touch if you want some pictures
to use too.
Set up a free online fundraising page
Join us on Virgin Money Giving! It’s easy, quick and means you can collect donations from far and wide. Simply click
‘Start Fundraising’on our page and away you go – it’s much easier than collecting money after the event!
Add your story and some pictures. Your first donation sets the tone for all the rest, so see if you can ask someone to
make a big donation at first. For more tips, check out the Virgin Money Giving Guide.
Shout about it
Use social media like Facebook or Twitter to involve your friends. Tell people about your challenge and remind them
a few times before the big day. You can also send postcards to friends and family asking if they want to donate. If it’s
a big challenge, get in touch with us about talking to the media.
Ask your employer
Many employers are pleased to make a donation or even match your total funds raised, so just ask. ReachOut! are
happy to send in a letter confirming your fundraising total, so just let us know. Colleagues may want to sponsor you
too - send round an email or pop it on the noticeboard.
Gift Aid it!
Online and face-to-face, be sure to remind people to Gift Aid their donation. Doing this boosts their donation by 28p
in every £1. Be sure to get their address on your sponsor form if you’re asking in person.
