bitly is a utility that allows users to shorten a long URL, share it, and then track the
resulting usage. For example, you can turn this link:

How to shorten and track the link?

Open the website of bitly i.e www.bitly.com

Register with your email Id (it takes hardly any time).

You can shorten the links without registering. However, the benefits of registration
is that you can customize the links and also track them.

You can also log in using your Facebook account.

Screen shots in next slides will be helpful in understanding how to shorten the link
and how to track the clicks on those links.

Benefits/use:

Many a time, you want to share a link on the internet with your employees or
professional colleagues but when you paste that link in your e-mail, it become very
distorted (refer slide no. 2). Bitly helps in shortening any link into a very small link.

