1. Kids of Stars Attending College
Celebrities seem to pop up everywhere these days. Tabloids make a habit of
catching famous people on camera at restaurants, clubs, sporting events and even
the grocery store. It turns out some of their kids can be found spread out all over
the place, taking college classes at a campus possibly near you.
1. Chet Hanks: The son of "Forrest Gump" star Tom Hanks goes by the moniker
Chet Haze at Northwestern University. The junior is an aspiring rapper and
recently released his first single, "White and Purple (Northwestern Remix)." The
rap song is his take on college life at the prestigious university in Evanston,
Illinois. He also has had small acting roles in "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of
the Crystal Skull" and "Larry Crowne," a movie his father wrote, directed and
starred in.
2. Henry Hall: It is probably a good thing that "Seinfeld" has been off the air for a
decade. Hall can live in some anonymity at Wesleyan College despite having TV
actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus and "Saturday Night Live" alum Brad Hall as his
parents. Of course, Hall is living true to his family's performing roots. The
sophomore is a lead singer in his own band.
3. Louisa Jacobson Gummer: Following family tradition, the daughter of actress
Meryl Streep is a junior at Vassar College. Older sister Grace Gummer graduated
in 2008 with degrees in Art History and Italian. Streep was a 1971 graduate who
earned a degree in Drama. It was at Vassar where Streep took her first acting
classes that eventually led her to a career in movies.
4. Robert Ritchie Jr.: The offspring of Kid Rock (not Lionel Ritchie) is set to
attend Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee this fall. This is the second son
that Kid Rock has put through college so far. He has raised Ritchie, Jr. as a single
father since birth and lived with him full-time in Michigan until his son graduated
from high school.
5. Danielle Aykroyd: The daughter of comedy legend Dan Aykroyd is a senior at
Harvard University and seems determined to make a name for herself by appearing
in poor taste videos. Aykroyd made headlines when she teamed with the children
of some other notable celebrities to make an internet music video called "Pussy
Breath" that has drawn criticism for its offensive content.
6. Danielle Lewis: The 20 year-old daughter of comedian Jerry Lewis did not just
2. enroll in Chapman University. She took her dad along with her. Lewis is a
sophomore majoring in music while her father teaches classes at the school located
in Orange County when he is not doing his annual telethon for the Muscular
Dystrophy Association.
7. Katherine Schwarzenegger: The daughter of ex-California governor Arnold
Schwarzenegger and former TV news reporter Maria Shriver is a senior at USC.
Schwarzenegger has begun establishing a writing career. She released her first
book, "Rock What You've Got: Secrets to Loving Your Inner and Outer Beauty
from Someone Who's Been There and Back," in 2010.
